First thing on Sunday 14th September, YJB cast & crew assembled at MOSTYN. With only 2 hours available to get the 5 shots needed for the Alice Goes to War trailer, we made the gallery our base, and used the opportunity to take images of Alice wandering through a contemporary space. Alice Goes to MOSTYN was planned to be a tiny projection, possibly hand-held, as part of the final installation in the Cylch Bathing Machine.
Our original actor couldn’t make it but we were really fortunate when another YJB Alice volunteered to take the part (thankfully the costume could be adapted to anyone who wanted to be in the trailer). Then to the shoot on Llandudno beach.
We started with the main concept image, Alice looking towards the horizon, which became YJB’s chosen image for their publicity postcard during the next session.
Alice then became the modern ‘solider’ Alice.
Everyone elected to act, direct, shoot and/or take still images, making the shoot, and the outcome, completely their own. By midday we had all the footage needed for Alice Goes to War but only 3 days left for a gallery session and the edit before the piece had to be installed for the LLAWN festival on Thursday 18th… another extraordinarily creative week lay ahead.
