I have been at Tate St Ives over a month now and felt it was time for a blog post! I have been working with our Circuit Fest-lab group to plan, programme and create our upcoming festival ‘SWITCH’ on 23rd and 24th September.
We are focussing on all things SITE SPECIFIC as, due to the extended closure of Tate St Ives, we are occupying alternative spaces in the town. This has proved an extraordinary opportunity to join up with organisations locally and to re-imagine our creative programme in new environments.
We are currently discussing how active, participatory and experimental we can be!
Recently we also had wonderful workshops from LUX who have been resident in St Ives for the last month. Anna Lucas led a hugely successful 2 day workshop with photos, pin pong balls, ipads, 16mm film, tape, slide projectors and screenings. The 2 days resulted in moving image films being made by a mix of Circuit collective and young people from across Cornwall and the UK.
To see the results and our collective experimental film, you will have to come to the Festival!
Our planning and creative sessions continue with an upcoming International meeting, happening very soon, via webcam to Slovenia with BridA collective. We will be chatting about all things participatory and Digital. Seeing how their projects blend the boundaries between technology, art and science.
Circuit St Ives will be transforming the usual to the unusual. The unexpected-must be expected!
SWITCH – activate your senses. 23rd and 24th September!
