Alice Thickett

Youth Programmer

Nottingham Contemporary

I facilitate work with 15 – 25 year olds at Nottingham Contemporary. This involves anything from setting up Young Curator sessions, speaking with young adults about their experiences to meeting with partners in the youth and art sectors to discuss collaboration and share good practice. Generally just being there and getting things done!

I graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2010 with a degree in Fine Art. I became the Director and Head Curator at a community gallery before starting up my own project group called No Official Name. I joined the learning team at Nottingham Contemporary as a temporary admin assistant and I just had to take up the opportunity to stay involved!

I still manage my project group and have my own artistic practice in my spare time. I’m a ‘young person’ myself so I am using the job to speak to my peers about what they would appreciate support in. I love meeting other young people 1-2-1 and hear about the exciting projects they are starting up.
